I have some pretty epic news to share! On December 1st I will be traveling to South Africa once again. This time it won’t be to frolic around and try to surf, but I’ll be helping out my friends from Wild-Life Tours.
I will be helping them out with all sorts of organisational tasks and hopefully growing their business. Luckily for me, that means temporarily relocating to one of the most stunning places in the world. St. Lucia, South Africa.
This relocation is one of the reasons that I started this site. Last year some of you followed my adventures in India and Sri Lanka on the blog and I figured it would be cool to start that up again. Coming winter you can all live a little vicariously through me.
Part of the plan is to help Wild-Life Tours create content for their website by shooting pictures and videos of their excursions. Unfortunately for me, that means that I won’t spend 9-5 in an office. Tough life. Fortunately for you, that means plenty of photo and video opportunities and I’m willing to share. Obviously I will be doing plenty of smart student-y stuff but that’s no fun to brag about.
In addition, I plan to write a “backpacking 101” series over the coming months. The series will deal with all sorts of things that I wish someone would have told me years ago. If I could print all of the info, travel back in time and give it to my 19-year old self, I would.
That I can’t do that, doesn’t mean that no one else can benefit from all of my experience (jeez I’m getting old). Topics on the agenda range from picking a destinations and a backpack to dealing with loneliness and annoying dorm-dwellers.
Over the coming weeks (or, realistically, months), I will be working on the site design and hope to keep you posted. In the mean time you can follow me on instagram @thesandrastories, to see some South African sights and wildlife. Or you can read about an exciting day on safari here.
